Digital Layouts

I've always been a traditional paper and scissors scrapper, but a few years ago I played around with some digital scrapbook kits. Just when I was getting my feet wet, we started living in a camper while renovating my husband's family farmhouse. I should have transferred all of my goodies onto my laptop, but alas I didn't and so instead I had to go sans-scrapbooking cold turkey.

I played enough stuff to see the appeal of the digital world. You can resize and reuse endlessly. I don't know, I might have another hobby. I don't think I could do purely digital, but I could see doing some pages and printing them into a book. What a great gift idea for family and friends.

I love sparkles and glitter, and I love combination of red, brown, and silver. This was probably my greatest success and favorite digital page. It was a ton of fun to play with interweaving layers, which you can't do {at least not easily} with tangible embellishments.

I've actually scrapped this picture before, but it is one of my favorites of the first time I saw my nephew, who lives a thousand miles away in Virginia. After my mom and I drove all night, we arrived to this little face and fell instantly in love!

One of my favorite things about the digital stuff is that you can play around with styles that I don't generally use. Though I've played around with different styles through the last five years, my true love is an eclectic vintage with well-worn papers and elements. So when I saw these bright colors, it was perfect to dress up these nursery photos of my sweet niece, Adeline.

I don't know the names of these kits or their designers anymore. I only have these few pages on my laptop. Somewhere in my basement is the computer tower that houses the rest of the kits and pages I made at that time. One of the disadvantages of digital, I suppose. I'm terrible like that with pictures, too. I have a hard-drive full of them, but I don't get around to printing them often enough. If anyone recognizes these kits, please let me know so I can link to the designers so you all can get these goodies for yourselves!

Until next time, take a cue from Adeline: Never stop smiling :)
