Happy Winter! CSI Case File 222

I've never been a huge fan of winter, in case I haven't mentioned it before {I have}, but this year it's flying by with Zae making every day a new adventure. Plus, what a great photo op to get into a cute hat (made by Zae's Nana).

This layout is for CSI's second January case file. I fell in love with the color scheme: one of my favorite color combos is red and powder blue. Add in a little black and gray and it's an elegant palette that begs for bling and glitter. {Who am I kidding? I would say that about anything...every layout begs me to let the glitter fairy free to sparkle}

The first part of the evidence is snowflakes and glitter. I had this Blue Fern Studios chipboard that could have been made for this challenge. I used "icicle" embossing powder, then added glitter to the snowflakes. You can see the fabulous die cut icicles I received from my last pocket letter partner. I used them wherever I could, tucking them here and there wherever it looked like a real icicle might have formed.

I added some Prills to create a snow-like layer. I apologize for giving your scrolling finger a workout on this layout...there was just so many pretty things to photograph, and you know how I hate to waste stuff? That includes adding photographs to the recycling bin. {It's the only thing in our house that doesn't get recycled}

The next evidence I chose was...you guessed it! Flowers. Of course flowers! If flowers is on the list, it's going to end up on my layout.

{For that matter, if flowers aren't on the list, they're probably still going to end up on my layout. There are worse addictions.}

I also used jewels and pearls, making these beaded dangles out of silver filigree bead caps and pearl beads in white and steel gray. On the far left you can see the metal wire I corkscrewed and glittered, using 20g jewelry wire I had lying around.

My testimony is documenting some of our favorite things about winter. I had to think for a minute, because as I said, winter is not my favorite season (it's so long and cold and dark here in Minnesota!). But as I thought about it, there are things I do like about winter (I would just prefer to have them in limited quantity). Have you ever walked in the woods during a gentle snowfall? The kind of snowfall where the snowflakes land on your shoulders with a soft swish, and that's the only sound you can hear. It's so peaceful. Even better is trail riding in the snow, then going inside to a cup of hot cocoa by the fireside.

Here's a couple more photos I couldn't trash. {thanks for bearing with me, oh patient one!}

Thanks for stopping by. Check back tomorrow, when I'll be revealing my guest design layout for CSI's February Major Case File. {Are you excited? I knew you would be. Me too!}

It's almost February! Spring is just around the corner for most of you, and a month nearer for those of us living on a glacier.
