I Know You By Heart: CSI Feb Guest Designer Layout Reveal - Case File 224

Hello all! Welcome, welcome. Sit down and have some tea...maybe some crumpets {I still don't know what those are-do you?} or something. I have a seven-tiered cake around here somewhere if you have a sweet tooth. Probably some leftover chocolate after yesterday's binge. I was told they make special chocolate on Valentine's Day: it's calorie free, and meltier and chocolatier than usual. Thanks for that, Cupid.

Okay, so today I'm sharing the second of the scrapbook layouts I created as a February Guest Designer at CSI. {If you missed the reveal of Magic! you can check it out here}

Scrapbook layout with chevron papers, heart embellishments, two photos, thickers, and journaling - done in grey, peach pink, and sage green with pops of red.

It was an honor to be part of the team for the month. Thanks to Debbi and the CSI crew for welcoming me and giving me the opportunity to get a glimpse at all the time and effort that goes into the a challenge blog like CSI. It has made me even more appreciative of the time and effort they put in the rest of us can play.

So, let's take advantage of the opportunity to play!

Here's the second February case file. Lots of fun prompts and ideas to get your creativity flowing! You have until the 28th to get your entries in for some fabulous prizes (I am waiting for a package of my own and can't wait to share it with you!).

Evidence used: plain cardstock, cactus/other plan, arrows, and of course die cuts! You know I've been a bit obsessed with die cutting since my Sizzix Big Shot came early for Christmas! {I talked about it when I made a Christmasy layout you can see here}

Now for the best part about this reveal: there is another half! I decided to use a sketch from one of the challenges at Scrapbook.com, and it was a two-page layout. Here's the full spread:

If you've ever watched the movie Beaches, you might remember the Bette Midler song "I Know You By Heart." I haven't seen the movie in many, many years, but this song has stuck with me. And, being that it's Happy Heart Month, it was a perfect page title.

One of the testimony clues was to use a mix of lettering, so you know I was all excited to use up all those extra alpha stickers lying around. Since I didn't have enough caps or lower case letters for the word "know" {do you ever look at a word and know it isn't spelled right, even though you know it is?}, I used a mix of the upper and lowercase, and it works with this mix of other letter stickers. Don't be afraid to get creative. It's called scrapbooking, after all.

Another clue was to use a cactus or other plant...that one had me stumped because I didn't want to "cheat" and use flowers as a plant (even though I did use these cute Prima Queen blooms, thanks to a previous Pocket Letter swap partner Carri!)

I thought about it for a while, and when my brain didn't work, I took to staring around the room, waiting for that legendary writing that's supposed to appear on the walls. My glance fell upon this sad little broken die cut stem and a few scattered hearts nearby. They pretty much jumped together and landed on the page and were like, "We're living here now."

Next.

My hubbly made it! It was so cute. I can't remember what he was doing, but he was doing something with wire, and he came up to my scrap room with this little wire heart and so cutely held it out on his palm and asked, "Can you use this on one of your pages?"

Yes, honey. Yes I can.

Cutest thing ever. {Now I know where Zae gets it from}

Don't you love it when those little details remind you of special memories? I'll always remember that little moment.

I also used the Echo Park Pennants he picked up for me and I've been obsessively using. He does these quiet little things like that, and it's those are the things that make my heart swell! The hearts are die cut using the Heartfelt die by Tim Holtz for Sizzix, from the Alterations Collection. The gray papers are from DCWV (Quince).

What else can I say? Hmm...well if I have to think about it too much it must be a cue to sign off. Hope you all had a happy Love Day yesterday! And that you got pictures to scrap :)
