Remember Woolly: CSI Case File 227 + GDT News

Cat layout: Yellow, orange, olive green, and brown scrapbooking page layout with Recollections Florals & Heidi Swapp wood veneer, with Tim Holtz Spring Greens die cuts & Crate Paper DIY Shop sunburst paper

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I was able to finish up a couple of scrapping projects, which I'll get to in a second. First I wanted to share exciting news! I was invited to be a guest designer at Lasting Memories next month. That means one layout a week throughout the month of May. How exciting for this scrap-challenge addict! I can't wait to share those projects with you!

I still miss this big fuzzball. Sometimes I glimpse something out of the corner of my eye and think it's him. Then that fraction of a moment passes and I remember I won't be seeing him. I know all you fur-parents can relate.

Since April is National Pet Month, CSI's Case File #227 features a charming piece of art featuring an orange cat. Perfect to celebrate my own orange fuzzball. The last time I scrapped him was in my Pancakes and {Boysenberry} Syrup layout, and I still had a few pics printed that I wanted to use, so this challenge was perfect to break them out.

Evidence used:

  • Floral pattern
  • Stripes
  • Flowers
  • Wood
  • Watercolors
  • And something fuzzy, if you count Woolly ;)

I chose to journaled about a pet, of course. The verse reads, "You left your pawprints on my heart & that's where you'll always be."

The beautiful flowers are Recollections from Michaels. The die cuts are the Garden Greens dies from Tim Holtz (I bought a Big Shot specifically for the purpose of cutting beautiful foliage for my flower addiction)!

The other challenge I brought into this layout is from Scrap Our Stash. I love their Tic-Tac-Toe challenges. Sometimes I'm reminded of stuff I have in my stash that I've forgotten about.

I used diagonal starting from the top left: border punch, flowers, and Thickers. I used these awesome Pebbles Thickers from American Crafts that I ordered a while back and had stashed in my drawer and forgotten about. They worked so perfectly for this kind of retro vibe.

I punched the edge and splattered this gorgeous starburst paper (Crate Paper DIY Shop Collection) with a bit of Prima's Decadent Pies watercolor to finish it off.

That's it from me today. We had a rough weekend in the Williams' household: poor Zae wasn't feeling well, then last night he started vomiting so badly we took him to the clinic and they gave him some nausea medicine in the hopes that he would start drinking. After a rough night, he woke me up this morning saying "wawa." That was music to my ears!

  2. Absolutely gorgeous, Carrie ! I LOVE the mix of beautiful pattern papers and flowers. You nailed the challenge colours as well as the sketch. That colour palette is perfect for the photos of your beloved Woolly. What a sweet looking boy. Unfortunately, I know what it's like to lose a pet. I'm sure your pawprint poem rings true for many of us. I know it does for me. Thank you for sharing. ♥♥♥

  4. WOW!!! What a fabulous and wonderful tribute to Woolly! I really, really love the top & bottom paper on this layout! It looks like rays of beautiful light! I'm sure that you will be able to scrap these wonderful photos many more times because it's perfectly ok to do that. It's amazing how differently you can scrap the same photos over and over again. Woolly deserves that kind of recognition. What a gorgeously handsome cat he was. Feeling deeply for you & this tragic loss. Keep scrapping him....it will help. Thanks for sharing your beautiful, heartfelt work!
