Z is For Zae! GD at Lasting Memories

Remember back when I revealed my CSI Major Case File layout for April, I said I was going to be guest designing at Lasting Memories? Well that day has arrived! Design Team member Lauren came up with the challenge theme "All About The Big Picture."

The first challenge is to use something small to create something BIG.

The first challenge is to use small embellishments (buttons, brads, bling, enamel dots, etc) to create a BIG number or letter (or both) on your layout. If you know my work, I have no problem going big...I don't usually leave much real estate untouched. Using small things is definitely a challenge, but if you've been around my neck of the woods before, you know I love a challenge!

I mulled this one over for quite a while. In fact, I finished my second project (come back next week to see how I used twine to create a BIG shape) before I even started the first.

I departed from my usual style to create a layout for the wall over Zae's crib. No flowers! Now you know that's not my usual!

Boy scrapbooking page layout with large watercolor letter Z decorated with brads against blue sky background and cork grass and airplanes and hand drawn clouds

I used watercolors and glimmer mist for the background on the Z. The "grass" is a sheet of inked cork. The airplanes are from Tim Holtz's Emporium Ephemera Die Cuts. I used a Signo Uni-Ball pen and some white ink to doodle in some clouds.

Don't forget, Lasting Memories has a new challenge every Sunday, and you have until May 26th to get in on the action! Here's the line-up of this month's challenges:

April 30: Use small embellishments (buttons, brads, bling, enamel dots, etc) to create a BIG number or letter on your layout.

May 7: Use baker's twine to make a BIG shape on your layout

May 14: Use strips of paper or washi tape in a BIG way on your layout

May 21: Use lots of small photos to create one BIG shape

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Very COOL! Even with the huge 'Z' this layout looks fabulous! Very tastefully done! The bright and cheerful colors make the white doodles and writing pop! Love it!

Thanks for all your kind comments!
