Home Sweet Garden: Shabby Chic Layout

Shabby Chic Scrapbook Layout featuring die cuts and lace

Happy Memorial Day Weekend! I hope you're spending it with friends and family, and remembering those who gave their lives for our country. Both of my parents were in the Air Force during the Vietnam War, and thankfully they both came home, or I wouldn't be here. But there were so many who didn't, and it got me thinking about what it must have been like to be halfway around the world and wishing for home. Take a moment to really think about it and appreciate their sacrifices. Then think about the good things in your life. For me, it's the simple pleasure of a backyard, a patch of grass to walk barefoot on, and a few flowers {preferably the hearty kind, since my green thumb is more of a pale green, like pistachio}.

Purrrr

Onto the scrappy stuff, I created this layout as a design team project for Cherish the Memory. The background paper is from DCWV's Primrose stack, the twine and lace is from my stash, the matting papers are from the Creative With Chalk Kitand the rest of the embellishments are from the Romantic Vintage Die Cut Block

I am in love with this book of die cuts. They are so feminine and beautiful, perfect for the shabby chic scrapbooking style I so often gravitate toward.

And of course, every layout needs a little glimmer mist. I've been a bit obsessed with droplets lately. There's just something about throwing paint at paper that makes me sooooo happy!

I'm entering this layout in the "What inspires you?" challenge at Colorful Creations

I am inspired by being outside. I spend a lot of time on my computer, working on my blog or freelancing or tinkering with my latest manuscript, so when I can I try and sit outside. Not only do I enjoy it more, I think it makes my work better.

That's it for me today. Zae should be about up from his nap and we're heading out to the family farm for a picnic.

Have a safe and happy holiday :)
