Seahorses Mixed Media

Seahorses nautical theme mixed media scrapbook page layout in blue with die cuts, cheesecloth, jute, seed beads, micro beads, and pearls

If you remember back to the beginning of the month, I posted a layout called Lake City Sisters for the Cherish the Memory design team. This is the sister page to my sisters page ;)

My dad took those photos on our way up to the Twin Cities to see a production of Evita at the Orpheum Theater. It was such a fun trip, and such a great show, but what sticks out in my mind is this stop in Lake City, which lies along Lake Pepin (have you read the Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder? This is where they crossed the Mississippi River to begin their adventure to Kansas!). It's a beautiful vista with all the boats, and I was so happy to finally get these photos scrapped!

I am so in love with the die cuts from this collection. That starfish made my day!

I have a ton of jute twine lying around, so I used a long length of it and had fun curling it around my feature elements.

I wanted my cheesecloth to be less airy, and more a part of the beautiful paper, so I layered it with some matte medium, which makes it less like a fibrous material and more like a textured stencil.

Then the fun part was adding prills and micro beads. I used a paintbrush dipped in the same matte medium as I used to paste down the cheese cloth and painted the little beads on with the brush.

Happy Friday, scrappers! Fridays that fall on the 18th always make me happy!

I'm in today to share my tic-tac-toe challenge inspiration for the Scrap Our Stash design team.

THE CHALLENGE:
Create a layout using the sketch provided and use a STASH item for each letter in the word TRAVEL.

Here's the sketch:

This one was a bit of a challenge for this math-challenged girl, but I really love stepping out of my comfort zone with challenges:  you always end up creating something special that you would never have otherwise.

Don't forget to use your stash items for the letters in the word TRAVEL.

And here's how I used my stash items:

T: Thickers
R: Red
A: American Crafts Paper
V: Versamarker
E: Embossing Powder
L: Leaves

Hello scrappers! I'm in today to share my very last scrapbooking project for Scrapping4Fun Challenge Blog Design Team! It's been a great summer helping to inspire you, but time doesn't give me many breaks with an almost-two-year-old demanding every spare moment {only another month!! where the heck did the last two years go??}

Challenge #97 is ANYTHING GOES. That's right, just create ANY project layout, card, canvas, mini album, or “off the page” creation. Our sponsor for this challenge is Sheepski Designs.

For this layout, I did a watercolor background. I wanted to let that shine through, so I kept the embellishments simple (flowers, of course!)

Handmade flowers with seed bead centers. So easy and pretty!

    Lake City Sisters

Nautical boat and seashells scrapbook layout page in turquoise blue on wood grain background with mixed media elements, cheesecloth, prills microbeads, jute rope twine, seed beads, and pearls

Hi scrapbookers! Today I'm sharing a layout I created with Studio Light's Summer Feelings kit for the Cherish the Memory design team. If you remember, I was working with the Creative With Chalk kit {PINK!}, and I loved that line. This line was perfect for my sophomore projects--it didn't disappoint with all the beautiful goodies!

The sea and summer inspired theme is perfect for the dog days of summer: the colors are cool and refreshing and perfect after the pink binge :)

Maybe my very favorite element: this gorgeous turquoise starfish! LOVE!

I had a hard time flipping to the B-side of the beautiful Seashells and Gems paper, but I'm a sucker for wood grain and boards and I had to use this one; it made the perfect background for some mixed media: dyed cheesecloth, paint and glitter.

    So Special

Blue and red scrapbook layout with flowers, die cuts, seed beads, stitching, and ric rac

Hello scrappy friends! I'm in today to share my layout for the tic-tac-toe challenge for the Scrap Our Stash design team.

The tic-tac-toe challenge is one of my absolute favorite challenges! Here's this month's challenge board:

    THE CHALLENGE:
Create a layout and you must use all three items from any horizontal, vertical or diagonal row from your stash!

I used the middle horizontal row: the color blue, polaroid, and hexagon shape.

The photo is one of my favorites of my sister and I with our "Little Grammy." (In all fairness, my sister and I are 5'11" and 5'9" respectively, but she was still teeny tiny!) Don't let her small stature fool you, though: she had a HUGE heart! My mom (who was her daughter-in-law) refers to her as a saint. I am sure God has granted her special sparkly, ethereal, iridescent angel wings, at the very least!
