Wedding Cards

Hi all! The other day I shared a friendship card, and today I have two wedding themed cards created for the Cherish the Memory design team using the Summer Feelings Kit.

I created these cards for my my young cousin and his soon-to-be-bride. The kit is loaded with a variety of elements, from friendship theme, sea and nautical (like the Seahorses and Lake City Sisters layouts), to boho and bridal. A great mix of goodies that covers a variety of themes.

I love the colors of these items so much! One of my favorite colors is a seafoam blue-green: so calming and peaceful.

You can see more in the Cherish the Memory shop on Etsy!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Music In Your Heart

Happy Monday! Yesterday I shared the exciting news about becoming part the International Scrapbook Garden Design Team and posted the kit reveal and a little sneak peek at my project. Today I’m excited to share my first project with the Toolshed: Summer Concert kit with you!

I recently returned from a trip to visit my sister in Virginia so she could finally meet Zae! I took lots of pics of him and my niece and nephew. I have't scrapped my nephew for a long time, and it was time he got a little love!

I particularly loved how the yellow portions of the kit perfectly fit with my nephew's Pokemon pajamas! There were so many fun yellow items in this kit I decided to segregate them from the blue and rusty elements and go all yellow and black, which is such a fun color combination. Plus yellow is one of my many favorite colors ;)

I had the perfect jumping off place with these awesome papers; I love love love chevron paper and the 13Arts Aria Story papers have such a great textural element in them. {Also, I think I was subconsciously channeling my last Virginia trip when I scrapped this layout - something a little familiar with the diagonal and the chevrons and black accents!}

Here's a few close-ups of the finished layout:

The only thing not from the kit are the two chippie stickers, which are Mambi Sticks. Everything else is from the Toolshed: Summer Concert kit.

Here are a few of the behind-the-scenes process photos:

Am I the only one who is fighting back tears as she tears into a beautiful piece of scrapbook paper? {as I weep, "Please forgive me, yellow chevron paper--this hurts me as much as it hurts you}

I wanted to share how I treated the cogs for this because it is so easy and gives a great sort of distressed iron look perfect for grungy and industrial scrapbook styles. You can see the one on the left is just plain black, which falls very flat, while the one on the right has texture.

Simply paint or ink your wood in black (or any base coat color you want!), then sponge lightly with a silver ink to give a speckled finish. Vary the pressure on the different pieces to add a little textural interest. Easy peasy but a detail that adds a great finishing touch! I was avoiding orange hues for this layout, but adding yet another layer of hints of rusty reds and oranges would make your pieces have the appearance of rusted metal.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Hope you enjoyed the invisible tea and crumpets. Be sure to check out the Summer Concert kit in the International Scrapbook Garden shop, 10% off during the Grand Opening sale!

Have a wonderful week!

New Design Team + Kit Reveal

Hi all! Hope you've had a great weekend. I am so excited to finally share the exciting news about the new Design Team I was asked to be a part of! The funny thing about becoming a part of this DT is that I had just stepped down from another DT because I was feeling a little stressed about deadlines and whatnot, and then the opportunity to join this new DT came up and I figured when God opens a door you take it, because it will lead you where you need to go.

So let me introduce you to the International Scrapbook Garden: a new kit club in the U.S. which features papers from around the world in three monthly kits. I love that aspect of this kit club--you won't find these papers at your local craft store!

I'll be sharing my first project tomorrow using the Toolshed Kit: Summer Concert, an awesome grungy industrial style kit that works perfect for masculine layouts--which if you've been around my blog before you know I struggle with {you'll see lots of layouts of my son surrounded by flowers in my archive}. Now that Zae turned 2, I really can't get away with the flowers like I could when he was a baby, so this kit is perfect if you're like me, struggling to scrap your boys!

Of course, unboxing this kit was like Christmas come early when I saw all the great products inside. Here's an overview of the base kit + extras:

You can see it's packed with everything you could want in a kit, from amazing papers by 7 Dots and 13@Arts, a huge array of chipboard from Creative Embellishments, and mixed media products, not to mention die cuts and embellishments.

Hazy Days Papers by 7 Dots

I am so in love with these grungy papers! Amazing textures that make it so easy to get a pro look without having to do all the work.

The Aria Story papers by 13@Arts are so great. I love yellow and black together, and the chevron patterns are so hot right now.

The only bad thing about all these great chipboard pieces is having to choose one when it's time to scrap ;)

And here's a few more of the yummy things from the collection, all perfectly coordinated:

Creative Embellishments Make Your Own Music Stencil

Melissa Frances Resin Arrows

Creative Embellishments Grunge Music Note Border Stamp

Kaisercraft Lucky Dip Wooden Cogs

The International Scrapbook Garden is having a grand opening sale right now, offering 10% off all kits for a limited time! Head on over and check it out while it lasts.

Come back over tomorrow when I post my first's a little sneak peek:

Enjoy the last bit of the weekend and have a great week!

Friendship Card

Mixed media card with stenciling, glitter, and chipboard flowers in aqua blue and beige

Hello, fellow scrap-enthusiasts! This month has been a whirlwind, but I wanted to stop in and share my DT creation for Cherish the Memory using the Summer Feelings Kit. This is a card I created for a special scrappy friend who brings so much positivity to my life I wanted to remind her she is special :)

The tag on the string comes off, sort of like a present, and you're left with the mixed media background.

I love these chipboard flowers from Fabrika Decoru. I used a little iridescent watercolor and a touch of glitter on them to add a little more sparkle because...well obviously! {sparkle sparkle sparkle}
