It's the Season

Hi all! It's Sunday and I'm catching up on some of my posts. I have a few upcoming projects from Cherish the Memory that I'll be sharing in the upcoming weeks, and guess what--it's Christmas themed! I love love love fall, but it's cold out here in Minnesota, so it's hard not to think about the upcoming holidays! And the Christmas goodies from Studio Light are so perfectly coordinated and easy to use.

Blue christmas layout with rustic brown die cut elements

The photo is of my grandparents' house where we spent every Christmas Eve. My mom has five brothers and three sisters. Between them there are around forty of us cousins, so you can imagine how full of fun and laughter those Christmas Eves are in my memories. I've lost all of my grandparents, but I am so thankful for the time we had together, and for all the love and lessons I received from them.

Many of these die cuts come in a book meant to create a set of cards, so making Christmas cards this year can be super easy. I had never heard of these before, but they are so fun (and what a time saver!).

I also wanted to share the news about the Instagram giveaway hosted by Cherish the Memory!

Check out my Instagram post to win a Christmas pack of goodies (or use them on layouts, like I've been doing!). All you have to do is comment and tag a friend.

Thanks for stopping by this Sunday--have a great week and Happy Halloween {feels weird to say that on a Christmas layout!} in a couple days! I'm excited to make Zae into a little pumpkin, and Mr. 67 taught him how to say trick or treat, so we're all set for some halloween fun. Stay safe!

Dance With Me Card

Happy Saturday, scrappy friends. I'm popping in today to share a bonus card I made with the Toolshed Summer Concert kit for the International Scrapbook Garden design team. I've already created 3 layouts (with another in the works), and I still have a ton of goodies left, so I created a masculine birthday card for Mr. 67 {which I will have to save until May--but way to get ahead of the game, right!}

I had a blast using all the mixed media elements from the Summer Concert kits. I started out with this gorgeous music stamp, which you can see here.

I have never used clear stickers, and now I want every one ever made in the history of creation. I love that you can create your own background piece and then add the word (or ornamentation) layer. Why have I not been using these before? If you haven't either, try them out and see if you like them and add yet another element to your scrap kit.

You can see I used the stencil from the kit using a Signo Uniball pen in white from my stash as another layer over the stamping.

Stop on over to the International Scrapbook Garden and snap up the Summer Concert kit before its sold out. Fall kits are coming soon!

Thanks for stopping in today. Have a great weekend :)

Captured - Grungy Mixed Media

Grungy industrial mixed media layout in copper and turquoise with tag banner, die cuts, stickers, chipboard frame, copper crackle paste, jute, microbeads, and flowers

Happy weekend, scrappers! I hope you're here to get some inspiration for some projects for the weekend. There is still plenty of time to get in on all of this month's great challenges (and win some fabulous prizes!), and with the days growing shorter there's no better time to get some scrapping done.

Today I'm sharing my final project using the Toolshed: Summer Concert kit for the International Scrapbook Garden. You'll want to hop on over to the ISBG blog and check out their kits: they are packed with amazing goodies.

The mixed media elements are amazing. My favorite discovery so far has been Lindy's Magical Powder. I had never used it before, and I will probably have every color they produce by the end of the year, it's that fun to use! For a little recap on how to use it, check out this post. Then of course you can see the fabulous color of Lindy’s Flat Fabio Danny Zuko’s Denim {any Grease fans out there? What a fun name!}

I love that I still got to use flowers on this layout, even though it is a total grungy boy style. I "dirtied" them up a bit with some copper crackle paint

Here's a few more close-ups of the products in action:

Scrapbook layout in lavender, mint green, and charcoal with chevron, polka dots, uniball white pen outlining, tags, paper layering, and liquid pearls about photography

Hello scrappy friends! I hope you're all enjoying fall and getting excited for the Halloween and the coming holiday season. I am a huge Halloween fan; I love getting to relive happy memories from my childhood and letting my inner child play, and now I get to make Halloween special for Zae.

But that has nothing to do with today's layout...which is decidedly UN-fall-inspired {a girl can't be expected to scrap orange for two months, after all!} Today's layout was created for the sketch challenge inspiration for the Scrap Our Stash design team: a layout in lavender and mint green with hints of blue and charcoal gray.

I'll admit, the sketch sort of intimidated me right away, but those tags intrigued me, tied together with a little bow. So cute!

I decided to scrap something I love, so I scrapped a photo of a camera to represent my love of photography. I love how these stickers I had leftover from my design team projects for the International Scrapbook Garden's Toolshed Kit (7 Dots Studio Hazy Days Word Stickers) are are about photography, but sort of give you a little life lesson {free therapy!} too.

THE CHALLENGE:
Create a layout using this awesome sketch and use a STASH item for each letter in the word prompt LEAF.

For example, on my layout I used:

L: Liquid pearls
E: Enamel dots
A: Alpha stickers
F: Flowers that I made eons ago

A Big Star

Grungy boys scrapbook layout mixed media with 7 Dots Hazy Days paper in black and white with rust

Happy Thursday-almost-Friday scrappers! Today I have a Design Team project for the International Scrapbook Garden using the Toolshed: Summer Concert kit.

This is my second project using this kit. If you remember my first project (you can see it here), you can see the finished looks are so different, even though they were all supplies from the same kit. I love that kind of versatility!

Every single thing on this layout is from the Toolshed kit!

Here's a few behind the scenes pics of the process:

Background paper: 7 Dots Hazy Days, Zip

Mat paper: Kaisercraft Speckled from Basecoat IV

Lindy's Magical Shaker

First time using Lindy's Magical Shakers. So fun!

Sprinkle where desired, and...

Spritz with water!

Kaisercraft Kaiser Mists Iridescent Spray Ink: Charcoal
Added a few more drops for added drama using Kaiser Mists.

Prepared the chipboard with some simple black paint and a brush of silver ink. This was an especially useful technique on chipboard with raised patterns, like these grungy chippies from Creative Embellishments, which are included with the bonus chipboard.
