Free Verse: CSI 241

Scrapbook layout page in brown, red, and yellow, featuring watercolors, prima, flowers, kaisercraft wood fence for CSI DT case file 241

Happy November, my friends--it's hard to believe the year is waning and we'll soon be celebrating the holidays, gathering with friends and family, and then welcoming the year 2018! But I'd better not get ahead of myself. We still have two months of this year left to enjoy! Today it's time to share my design team project for CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration. If you haven't joined in on the fun yet, I invite you to come over and play one of the funnest challenges around :)

Here's this month's major case file:

Here's how I solved the case:

Evidence: Stripes, watercolor, architectural elements, animals (butterflies), wood grain and wood

Testimony: I chose to have a little fun with the testimony for this one, since the photo itself isn't doesn't really have a story to it, so I decided to do a free verse poem, using Magnetic Poetry for fun, as suggested in the CSI post. I ad libbed here and there, but the main points came from my magnetic poem! This was really fun, so I suggest giving it a try for yourself. I tucked the poem in a pocket (the "documented" tag).

Listen, snow falls on burnished trees,
See, the frost has laced the autumn leaves.
Red roses wither, blue to gray,
Seasons bloom and wane;
just memories remain.

Here's how to play along:

The scene (photo) is the inspiration for the case file, which contains a color scheme, clues, and testimony. To complete the challenge, use all five colors, choose THREE of the clues for your layout, and choose one of the journaling prompts (testimony). For major case files (the first of the month) there is also a sketch included. On the 15th of the month there will be a second case file released, so check back then for another chance to play and win some fun prizes!

Here's a link to the Law and Order page (rules) for the rest of the details.

Thanks for stopping by. I look forward to stopping over to your blog/galleries and seeing what you create!

  2. How pretty you are in that photo, Carrie. I love the angle at which it was taken.
    Beautiful take on the challenge. I'm not one for poetry but, the free verse is a fun twist on journaling. I love the deep burgundy, and yellow, flowers. Their placement bring the eye straight to the photo. Great job, as always. ♥
