Best Gift Ever: SOS Tic Tac Toe

Christmas holiday scrapbook layout in red, green, and cream with stockings, wood alphas, and gold stickers, journal card, sequins, chipboard star, fussy cut heart and gingerbread man

Hello scrapbooking fans! Today I'm up on the Scrap Our Stash blog to share my layout inspiration for the tic-tac-toe challenge, full of plenty of Christmasy prompts to get your creativity flowing!

Scrap Our Stash was created to inspire and challenge you to use up the products and supplies you have in your scrapbooking stash. If you haven't played along yet, I invite you to come on over and join the fun: the tic-tac-toe challenge on the first of the month, and the sketch with a word challenge starting on the 15th of the month. I'll include the details farther down.

This one is appropriately called Best Gift Ever, for obvious reasons! When I first started this blog, I documented a little of our journey to becoming parents. It wasn't an easy road, but the gift at the end was worth the wait and heartache. I can't even put into words how in love with my son I am. And because of our journey, I don't take it for granted that God sent us this little miracle. I've never been a materialistic person, anyway. I don't do diamonds or designer shoes. I'd much rather make memories on a getaway (so I can scrapbook the pics later!). I think a lot of scrappers are this way. We are the sentimentalists, the memory keepers, the ones who love life and want to capture every little moment. Those are the things we take with us to heaven; the diamonds and shoes are left far behind!

In hopes of teaching Zae how little value material things have in his life, we are purchasing some goodies for the local animal shelter for his Christmas. We have a couple of gifts, too, but we don't want him to grow up believing Christmas is about getting things; we want him to learn the gift of giving, and the joy that comes with bringing joy to others. Zae loves animals, and I can't wait to see his face when he gets to give some treats to shelter kitties who don't have their own loving families to spoil them this Christmas! {I am such a softie when it comes to needy animals...those abused animal commercials get me every time}

Okay, onto the challenge details! I've loved the tic tac toe challenge long before I became a DT member; it is one of my absolute favorite scrapbook challenges! Here's this month's challenge board:

THE CHALLENGE

Create a layout and you must use all three items from any horizontal, vertical or diagonal row from your stash!

EXAMPLE

For my layout, I used the middle horizontal row: journal card, holiday theme, and something gold. I also used the right hand vertical line: ribbon, something gold, and sequins (the ribbon is hiding under the "stocking" top mat).

  3. Carrie, you are my kind of person. I could not care less about diamonds, expensive purses, and days at the spa. Animals, on the other hand, have pieces of my heart. I commend you for giving to needy shelter animals in Zae's name. What Christmas is really all about. ♥♥♥
    Adorable layout. Your little boy is just so cute. You can't help but smile looking at him. I love the stitching around the photo and at the top part of the stocking. The sprinkling of sequins and the Christmas themed elements are all really sweet. TFS.
